Hundreds Put Their Best Foot Forward For Living Water

Amity HK’s Walk for Living Water 2024 was successfully held on 18th May, welcoming over 300 participants and volunteers to S.K.H. Ma on Shan Holy Spirit Primary School for a day of challenging and educational fun in the bid to boost public awareness on the global water crisis.

The main event saw participants carry weighted buckets over a distance of approximately 3km along the Ma On Shan Promenade. The experience was designed to simulate the situation in countries where people are forced to travel great distances to and from safe sources of water.

We are immensely grateful for the support of the volunteers from the HKSAR Water Supplies Department and S.K.H. Tsang Shiu Tim Secondary School, without whom the event could not have been so smoothly executed.

Funds raised through the Walk will be used to support education on water conservation and environmental protection, as well as the construction of water and sanitation facilities for areas in need.

The Walk for Living Water is an annual event held in Hong Kong as part of the Living Water Campaign. Since 2010, The Amity Foundation’s Living Water Campaign has been raising public awareness of the global water crisis and helping to implement water projects in countries such as Myanmar, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Cambodia and Kenya. In line with the principles of the Belt and Road Initiative, Amity continues to reach out globally in hopes of creating a better shared future for all.
